My mom lost her house so we lived in a car,

I got my whole face reconstructed with a bat

That was about three years ago on My birthday.

I was blacked out and a store clerk gave me a dirty look,

he came back later, still blacked out,

and I guess I beat him up a few times,

and broke my arm there, there, and hit me in the face

and then he kept hitting me when I was knocked out.

And then I had 95% of my face reconstructed.

チャドがホームレス生活の危険性を話しています。
ホームレスとして生活するには色々な危険と隣り合わせで生きていかなければなりません。
どのような危険があるのでしょうか?
ホームレスの遭遇する危険な路上生活
ホームレス状態にある人々は色々な危険に脅かされて生活をしています。
住居が無いということは、基本的に自分の身体・生命、財産を誰にでもアクセスできる、安全ではないところに置いておかなければならないということになります。
自分が起きている間は、ある程度守ることはできますが、寝ている時は完全に無防備な状態です。
特に女性や子どもは性的な暴力を受けることも多くあります。
女性の被害は容易に想像できるかと思いますのが、子どもへの虐待は、被害が報告されたり発見されることが少ないために見過ごされているケースが多いとされています。
子どもは抵抗することが難しい(抵抗しなければならないと感じない)ことが多いですし、目の前で起こっていることの善悪の判断ができないこともあります。
安全な場所を確保できないホームレス状態にある人々は、社会的に守られにくい状態にあるということもあり、人の不満のはけ口にされたり、いたずらの対象とされることもあります。
若者や酔っ払いによるいたずらを受けたり、何の理由もなく暴行を受けたり、仮設の家を破壊されたりすることがあります。

アメリカでよくニュースに挙がるのは放火です。
特に理由はなく、ホームレスの人たちが住むテントに放火するニュースはよく目にしますし、日本でも同様のニュースをたまに見かけます。
テントやダンボールはよく燃えますし、火をつける行為が簡単でストレス解消となる行動になるのかもしれません。
ホームレス状態にある人への暴力や破壊行為であっても犯罪は犯罪です。
暴力や虐待以外にも、病気にかかったり精神疾患を患ったり、危険にさらされていることは多くあり、住居がないということは多方面に人としての尊厳が奪われる状態にあるということになります。
何にせよ、子どもについては、自分たちで生活をコントロールできる状態には全くありません。
しっかり守って適切な教育を受けるべきです。
日本でのホームレス支援
日本では数多くのホームレス支援団体がありますが、その中に雑誌の販売を通して支援を行う「ビッグイシュー」という団体があります。
