ホームレスとなっている女性たちが生理の時にどのように対応しているのか、インタビューに答えています。

女性のホームレスにとって生理は対処が難しい期間であり、避けることもできません。
ホームレスの女性たちが抱える生理の問題
ホームレスの女性が抱える大きな問題の一つが生理です。
しかしながら、女性たち本人からこの問題について声が上げられることはまれです。
動画の中でも言われていたように、不衛生な状態によって色々な問題が起こされます。
不快感や臭いはもちろんですが、運が悪ければ細菌性膣炎や尿路感染症を引き起こし、命に関わる可能性のある毒素ショック症候群になってしまうこともあります。
かなりセンシティブな問題ということもあり、このことが取り上げられる機会が失われているというのが現状です。
そのような背景から、世間での認知度が低いということと、安価なものではないために支援の少ない物資の一つにもなっています。
また、ホームレスの女性が生理への対処に困り、万引きをしてしまうケースもよくあるようです。
アメリカの支援団体では、トイレに無料の生理用品を配布している団体があったり、トイレに生理用品を寄付するスペースを設けるところもあったりします。
ホームレス女性の生理は隠れたホームレス問題の一つだと言えます。
日本でのホームレス支援
日本では数多くのホームレス支援団体がありますが、その中に雑誌の販売を通して支援を行う「ビッグイシュー」という団体があります。
イギリスから始まったホームレス支援を行う雑誌「ビッグイシュー」は日本でも発行されており、札幌でも「ビッグイシュー」の販売が行われています。
